Matt BeardGeneral ticket sales began this week for Cirque du Soleil’s “KOOZA,” coming to the Big Top at Sam Houston Race Park early next year.
The Montreal-based circus arts production company describes the show as a throwback to Cirque du Soleil’s beginnings. The production showcases ambitious acrobatics combined with the art of clowning, according to a media release. "KOOZA" by Cirque du Soleil follows the character of the Innocent on a journey of self-discovery in a strange kingdom.“KOOZA is about human connection and the world of duality, good and bad,” David Shiner, the show’s writer and director, said in a statement. “The tone is fun and funny, light and open. The show doesn’t take itself too seriously, but it’s very much about ideas, too. As it evolves, we are exploring concepts such as fear, identity, recognition and power.
The Trickster, center, is among the characters the Innocent meets on his journey of self-discovery in Cirque du Soleil's"KOOZA" coming to the Big Top at Sam Houston Race Park in 2023.“KOOZA” originally opened in 2007 and has since been seen by about 8 million people in over 20 countries.The show will run from Jan. 25 to March 5, 2023, at Sam Houston Race Park.
Patrons will witness a variety of acts, from contortionists and high-wire acrobats to a unicycling duo and a balancing act on a 23-foot tower of chairs.
