Rain is not expected until mid-April at the soonest, according to meteorologist Sarah McCorkle.
A brief spell of unseasonably hot weather began to settle on the Bay Area on Wednesday, and it will crank many temperature gauges above 90 degrees before moving on its way.“It’s definitely a heat wave for this time of year,” National Weather Service meteorologist Sarah McCorkle said. “Or at the least a mini-heat wave.”
The weather will feel “toasty,” McCorkle said, but it figures to be bearable. The hottest temperatures will arrive Thursday, when forecasters predict areas of the Santa Clara Valley may hit 95 degrees, while far inland areas such as Livermore and Brentwood could get up to 92. The weather service also issued a Beach Hazards statement, advising any potential ocean visitors that sneaker waves and rip currents were expected from beaches to Cloverdale to Monterrey. Wave swells were expected to be 8-12 feet.If you are planning on heading to the beach today as temperatures heat up, water temperatures are in the lower to mid 50s. Large breaking waves will be possible along the beach as well as the potential for sneaker waves. Never turn your back to the ocean.
