Tommy Fleetwood and Rory McIlroy are gunning for glory at the BMW PGA Championship at Wenworth
Tommy Fleetwood saw his second round at the BMW PGA Tour Championship interrupted on Friday after thunder and lightning threatened the safety of players and spectators. The Southport-born star had reached the 13th green alongside Matt Fitzpatrick and Byeong Hun An when huge moody clouds closed in on the prestigious Wentworth course plunging the green into near darkness.
12 eventually stroked home for a par to remain at seven under for the tournament, but before his playing partners could finish the hole two menacing shots of lightning sent gasps around the congregation as play was brought to a halt. Fleetwood was tied for fifth on the leaderboard as play was suspended.
