Comedian Tommy Tiernan says he finds writing stand-up 'hellishly difficult'

The comic, who has quickly become one of Ireland’s most popular interviewers, is set to return with his mystery guest chat show on RTE this weekend.The 50-year-old added: “I thought to myself that during last year’s show, there was a slight hint of, ‘Fr Tiernan will see you now’.However, also gearing up for a busy year on the road, bringing his stand-up shows on tour around Ireland, the UK and Europe, he admitted putting together material is less enjoyable than it looks.

Despite playing the long-suffering dad in the Channel 4 comedy, he said he would describe himself as a strict parent in real life.
