Nigel Farage has branded Rishi Sunak National Service announcement a 'joke' during interview on Sky News. He also said that is 'totally impractical'.
A Tory minister today slammed Nigel Farage over his 'ignorant and offensive' claim that young British Muslims 'loathe much of what we stand for'.
The Wycombe MP praised the contribution of British Muslims in his Buckinghamshire constituency, where he is seeking to defend a 4,000-vote majority at the general election. 'They deserve much better than to be the object of this clear and intolerable bigotry. This is why I have always fought Islamophobia and why I will continue to do so, supporting the creation of a practical definition.'
'And most interestingly, we have a growing number of young people in this country who do not subscribe to British values. In fact, loathe much of what we stand for.' 'There are a very small proportion for whom they want to challenge those values that we hold dear in the UK, which are British values, and there we need to continue to work in community to bring those people to this.
She said: 'It's about all of us, all our young people, whatever their cultural background, their personal religious faith – or none – they work together in community through volunteering, or through joining the armed forces for a year's commission to be part of building their future UK.'
