Mercedes are set to announced who will replace Lewis Hamilton next year and boss Toto Wolff has given a strong hint over who will partner George Russell in 2025
Toto Wolff looks to have accidentally confirmed that Andrea Kimi Antonelli will be racing for Mercedes next year.
Wolff has made no secret of his desire to convince Max Verstappen to walk away from Red Bull and join his outfit. But he has now given up on the prospect of that happening for 2025 and now the focus is entirely on Antonelli. Antonelli will fill in for Hamilton for first practice at the Italian Grand Prix next weekend. And it is anticipated that the team will use that opportunity to announce that the teenager will partner George Russell in 2025.
But Wolff gave away the team's plan when he added: "We came to the conclusion together in the summer that we should not wait for something to happen before we commit to 2025. I want it to work with George and Kimi."
