The FA are on the hunt for Gareth Southgate’s England replacement after his resignation and could turn to Tottenham tactician and former Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou as an option

Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou is among the names being considered by the FA for the England vacancy, according to reports.

According to The Telegraph, the Australian is expected to be among the FA’s top targets. It is suggested that he has been tracked by FA chiefs for years. Technical director John McDermott has kept an eye on Postecoglou’s career since his spell in Australia and is now the man tasked with compiling a shortlist.

Postecoglou had a similar assessment towards the end of the season after being linked with the Liverpool job. He said: "I've only been here for seven months so I think that is self-explanatory."I am at pains to say that we still have a long way to go in terms of the football we want to play, the team we want to be and the squad we want to have. We've only had two positive windows, had a decent campaign so far but we have a long way to go.
