Hundreds of runners are due to take part
A popular half marathon will be returning to Nottinghamshire after three years away. On Sunday, August 14, hundreds of runners across the county will be taking part in the Newark Half Marathon, for its first event since 2019 when more than 1,300 runners took part.
The half marathon will start at 9.30am and follow a quiet country lane course around the town and surrounding villages. Hundreds of runners are set to take part in the day, which will be the 35th Newark Half Marathon to take place. A number of local running clubs and charities will have representatives taking part, and there will also be a fun young for younger children wanting to take part in the day. Those taking part will receive a medal upon completion as well as a half marathon t-shirt, which has been made sustainably from recycled bottles.
A month following the Newark Half Marathon will be the Robin Hood Half Marathon on Sunday, September 25 where the event is predicted to have 10,000 runners taking part. A new route has been planned for this year, which for the first time will see runners on Maid Marian Way, as well as the usual popular landmarks like Nottingham Castle, Trent Bridge and Wollaton Deer Park.
