Paul Nicholls will aim to become the outright most winning trainer of the St James's Place Hunter Chase at the Cheltenham Festival next month - and victory this year would be all the sweeter as his daughter Olive is said to ride Shearer in the race.
And he has Shearer, currently a best price of 14/1 for the Hunter Chase, backed at 25/1 for this year's Festival. He added: “I part-own him now with Max McNeil. Two years ago, he won his two chases at Ludlow and Aintree but then got a leg and had two years off.
