Tram operator NET will name one of Nottingham's trams after West Bridgford-born footballer Mary Earps

A Nottingham tram will be named after the England Lioness goalkeeper Mary Earps. Operator NET will name one of its trams after West Bridgford-born footballer Mary Earps, who recently impressed as England's Lionesses finished runners up in the 2023 Women's World Cup.

NET previously explained the honour is not given out lightly, stating "each one of our trams is named after a local hero of the past or present". Adding: "All of these names are permanent and honour a cross section of people that have made a difference in Nottingham and Nottinghamshire.

Alison Sweeney, Head of Marketing at NET, said: "Like lots of people in Nottingham, we’re incredibly proud of the efforts of Mary Earps and her fellow Lionesses at this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup.
