BREAKING: Travel chaos in Greater Manchester as urgent warning issued to fans heading to City game at Etihad
There is chaos on the roads across Greater Manchester this evening, with an urgent warning issued to fans heading to the Manchester City game at the Etihad Stadium.
A crash has suspended all tram services between Clayton Vale and Velo Park. In a warning text issued to ticket holders, fans heading to the stadium from the Ashton direction for the Champions League game have been told of severe delays. Tickets are instead being accepted on local bus services, with fans urged to check for the latest updates on the delays ahead of the 8pm kick off time.According to MancTraffic, the crash is on the A662 Ashton New Rd, Eastlands, near the Velo Park stop with traffic queuing in both directions.
A crash on Wilmslow Rd, in Rusholme has also caused the road to become blocked, causing severe traffic heading inbound towards the city from Great Western Street. Emergency services are reported to be on the scene. There is also reported to be very slow traffic on the Mancunian Way Westbound due to roadworks in the area, with delays of around 30 minutes, as well as exceptionally slow traffic on the M60 clockwise from J8 A6144 to J12 M62 J12 .Wilmslow Road in Rusholme is blocked due to crash, reports MancTraffic
