The city of Trenton is holding runoff elections for three at-large council member races in January, in addition to runoffs for two other seats, following a court battle, a Superior Court judge in Mercer County ruled Friday. The runoff election is set to be held on Jan. 24, according to a decision by Judge Robert Lougy. The judge’s decision also involves revoking and annulling any previous certificate of election.
It comes after none of the three at-large candidates reached more than 50% of the vote, the ruling said. “Per the clearest statutory command, Petitioners are entitled to a runoff election,” the judge said.
