Trevor Scott Sands was found guilty last month of shooting and killing 31-year-old Jeannot Mendy and 63-year-old Gerald Talley in 2017.
A 27-year-old man was sentenced Tuesday to 46 years to life in prison for killing two people whom prosecutors say he intended to rob.had faced a minimum sentence of 26 years and a maximum of life in prison with no chance of parole.
"Monae Cox and Trevor Sands came to rob my family of guns. But in the end, he, Trevor Sands, robbed my family of future memories of my dad and my grandma," Michael Aaron, one of Talley's sons, said before Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Andy Miller imposed his sentence. , a forensic ballistics expert testified that bullets found at the two homicide scenes were fired from the same .45-caliber pistol that Sands had in his possession when he was arrested in 2019.From the stand, Cox testified that on the night Talley was killed, she dropped Sands and another man, both of whom were wearing balaclava-style masks, at his house. She knew Talley had firearms at his house because she had once dated one of his sons and had lived with them previously, she said.
Her sentence will be served consecutive to an eight-year federal prison sentence for the Family Dollar store robbery, for which she served as getaway driver, and a string of other robberies from that time.
