David Hill died on Saturday afternoon during a game against Ireland’s Oireachtas team
paid tribute to Mr Hill. “My deepest condolences to David’s family, friends and colleagues – and of course to his Holyrood Rugby teammates who I know are all deeply shocked and heartbroken.”
Mr Greene described Mr Hill as a friend and confidant. He said on Twitter that Mr Hill “loved his politics, but he loved his rugby more”. “The whole parliament, my party and the whole rugby community is deeply saddened by this awful news today, and our condolences lie entirely with his family, friends and colleagues . . .,” he said.
“So, please also give the rest of my office team some time and space too. Rest in peace David. You will be missed so much by so many.” TDs and Senators also paid tribute with Dublin Rathdown deputy Neale Richmond saying: “Utterly heart broken, one of the nicest men lost in the most tragic of circumstances. Ar dheis de go raibh a anam dilis.”“Relentless energy, dependability, positivity and affection made him the warmest of friends and colleagues,” he said on Twitter. “To his Holyrood teammates and family grieving in Dublin tonight go my every best wishes.
