An elderly woman, Mary Grennan (75), was killed in a two-car collision in Co Kilkenny on Friday. Grennan was driving one of the cars and was pronounced dead at the scene. She was known for her work in the Eye Department at Waterford University Hospital. Local tributes and condolences have poured in.
The crash happened on the N25 at Luffany at around 5.50pm on Friday .
Mrs Grennan who was originally from Glenmore in South Kilkenny was described as 'an absolute lady' and was known to many due to her work in the Eye Department at Waterford University Hospital in Ardkeen. "We are thinking of Bridget, Declan and the entire Grennan and Kirwan families at this terribly sad time’’.
The other driver, a man in his 30s, and a female passenger in her 20s were taken to University Hospital Waterford for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
