Injured UN peacekeeper Shane Kearney to be medically evacuated from Lebanon for continued treatment in Dublin
The 23-year-old sustained blunt force trauma to the head when the armoured UN vehicle he was travelling in was attacked in the coastal Lebanese village of Al-Aqbiya last week.
For the past week, Trooper Kearney has been a patient in a hospital in Sidon and described as critical. Tomorrow, the funeral mass for Private Rooney will take place in Dundalk. His remains will be removed to the Holy Family Church in the town for funeral mass at 9am.
