Donald Trump has issued a new statement after he was helped away from the stage at at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania by security officers following an assassination attempt
Donald Trump has issued a new statement thanking "God alone" for the fact he was not killed when a gunman opened fire at a political rally and hit him in the ear.
Trump’s campaign said the presumptive GOP nominee was doing “fine” after the shooting, which he said pierced the upper part of his right ear. Taking to his Truth Social account, Trump in a latest update wrote: "Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers yesterday, as it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening.
"In this moment, it is more important than ever that we stand United, and show our True Character as Americans, remaining Strong and Determined, and not allowing Evil to Win . I truly love our Country, and love you all, and look forward to speaking to our Great Nation this week from Wisconsin." The FBI early Sunday identified the shooter as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania. The agency said the investigation remains active and ongoing. Secret Service agents fatally shot Crooks, who attacked from an elevated position outside the rally venue at a farm show in Butler, Pennsylvania, the agency said.
