The Danish government must state in clear terms that control over Greenland is not up for discussion or negotiation, said Rasmus Jarlov MP of the Opposition Conservative Party on social media platform X. With its Pituffik airbase, Greenland is strategically important for the US military and its ballistic missile early-warning system, since the shortest route from Europe to North America runs via the island.
