Trump praised Putin's plan to invade Ukraine as 'genius' and called the Russian leader 'very savvy' after he put out a statement saying Russia would have never invaded Ukraine under his watch.
'If properly handled, there was absolutely no reason that the situation currently happening in Ukraine should have happened at all,' Trump said. 'The weak sanctions are insignificant relative to taking over a country and a massive piece of strategically located land,' Trump added.
