After his 1986 murder trial, Jeremy Bamber was described as 'evil beyond belief', but he became close to getting away with his heinous crimes

In attempt to get away with not one but five murders, Bamber pinned the crimes on sister Shiela, who had been recently diagnosed with schizophrenia.

Oon the night of the murder, Bamber telephoned police in the early hours to claim he'd had a call from his 'terrified' father at White House Farm to say Sheila had gone 'berserk' with a shotgun. When the bloody scene was uncovered by police, a hysterical Bamber broke down in tears and appeared to vomit.

The crime scene was tampered with, bodies disturbed and evidence burned, while the murder weapon was moved without gloves and not examined for finger prints untill weeks later. It was only they were let back inside that one of Jeremy Bamber's cousins discovered a gun silencer spattered with red flecks hidden inside a cupboard.

Jeremy had appeared consumed by grief at the funerals, sobbing hysterically and hanging on to the arm of his then girlfriend, Julie Mugford. After initially supporting Bamber, she alleged that he had been violent towards her and talked about killing his family.
