The victim's roommate was handling a gun that police say he believed to be unloaded before pulling the trigger.
HOUSTON, Texas -- A student was killed in an accidental shooting at an apartment complex near Texas Southern University on Thursday night, Houston police say.
They held a private vigil for him on campus on Friday night and dedicated their performance at the spring game in his memory.At about 11:05 p.m. on Thursday, HPD responded to a shooting at the apartment located at 3600 Rosewood Street. The victim and his roommate were visiting another friend's apartment when the roommate of the victim was handling a gun that police say he believed to be unloaded before pulling the trigger and accidentally striking the victim in the torso.
"We live right by UAV. When we found out that happened, we were all really devastated about it. Something so tragic. Its really sad," said TSU freshman Zakhia Davis.
