The race continues to heat up - as Succession star Brian Cox announced his support for Angus Robertson as the next SNP leader
Ahead of the opening of nominations next week, Mr Cox, 76, added his voice in support of the party’s former Westminster leader Angus Robertson.that Mr Robertson would be a “great leader”, adding: “I have a lot of respect for Angus Robertson. He’s the Culture Secretary at the moment, but has a scope which is quite interesting.
Mr Robertson, who became an MSP in 2021 four years after losing his Westminster seat, is currently Cabinet Secretary for the Constitution. He has yet to confirm if he will make a bid for the SNP leadership, but bookies have reported him as one of the early favourites for the job.also reported that Ms Forbes was seen as an early frontrunner in a Savanta poll commissioned by the newspaper.
Robertson is the next most popular according to the poll, with 14 per cent of SNP voters and nine per cent of the Scottish public backing the Edinburgh Central MSP. All contenders will have work to do to boost their profiles, however, with 34 per cent of SNP voters stating they do not know who they would favour and almost half of the public also stating they did not know.
