A man in his 20s is in critical condition after a violent home invasion in Lifford, County Donegal. Two men have been arrested by police in connection with the attack, which left the victim with life-threatening injuries. The victim's mother has pleaded for prayers for his recovery.

Two men have been arrested in connection with an attack on a home in Donegal that has left a man in his 20s battling for his life. The assault is reported to have taken place in Lifford on Monday morning, January 20. The victim, who is in his 20s, was one of two men assaulted during a home invasion. He was airlifted to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast, according to reports from Belfast Live.

Charles Dooher suffered a brutal beating when a gang of five masked men broke into his Lifford home. Charles and his father were both severely injured during the attack at the house on Coneyburrow Road, close to the border with Co Tyrone, around 10:30 am. Charles Dooher senior was transported by ambulance to Letterkenny University Hospital on Monday for treatment of less serious injuries. Earlier this week, Mrs. Annmarie Dooher pleaded with family and friends to offer prayers for her son's recovery as she began a bedside vigil at her son's hospital bed. She made an emotional appeal to friends on social media: “I am asking for prayers for my beautiful, brave son who fought off five men with steel batons who broke into our family home and left my son lying for dead. My poor son is fighting for his life and needs your prayers. Please pray for my son, please pray for his recovery.” She added: “I sit here desperate with my son’s life in God’s hands. I am asking you to join your hands together for my son and pray for his recovery. Pray for his healing. Pray for my son, my beautiful, wonderful son.” A PSNI spokesperson stated: 'Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland's Serious Crime Branch who are assisting colleagues in An Garda Síochána with the investigation into the serious assault of a man in his 20s in Lifford, County Donegal, have arrested two men in the Derry area. They are currently in police custody at this time.'
