Two men aged in their 40s and 50s are due to appear before Monaghan District Court later today

Gardaí have arrested two men following the seizure of around €150,000 worth of cannabis in Monaghan and Louth.

The arrests followed the search of a premises in Castleblayney, Co Monaghan on Monday evening, during which local gardaí and members of the Armed Support Unit seized suspected cannabis with an estimated value of €70,000. The suspected drugs are being sent to Forensic Science Ireland for analysis, and investigations are ongoing.The seizures were carried out as part of Operation Tara, a national anti-drugs strategy that was launched by An Garda Síochána in July 2021. It’s aimed at disrupting, dismantling and prosecuting drug-trafficking networks at all levels.
