Police say a 16\u002Dyear\u002Dold boy was arrested after getting into a taxi with a sawed\u002Doff rifle in a bag. A 31\u002Dyear\u002Dold woman was also arrested.
On Tuesday police conducted the investigation at a home in the 100 block of Avenue J, a media release said. At about 2:30 p.m., officers saw a 16-year-old boy leaving the home carrying a bag. The boy got into a taxi but police stopped it and arrested him. A sawed-off rifle and ammunition was found in the bag.
Police say a 31-year-old woman left the home a short while later and attempted to leave in a vehicle. After she was stopped and arrested, officers found ammunition on her person. Officers then executed a search warrant in the home with help from the tactical unit. More ammunition was found inside.saying that officers and members of the tactical unit were on the sceneBoth individuals are charged with possession of a prohibited firearm, possession of firearm knowing its possession is unauthorized and breach of conditions. The 16-year-old is also charged with possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle.
