Two Kansas City Chiefs players - Wanya Morris and Chukwuebuka Godrick - were arrested on Thursday night for minor marijuana possession.
Morris' arrest follows an impressive rookie season on the offensive line. The player, from Tennessee and Oklahoma, was picked in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft. After being listed as inactive for the Chiefs' first three games, he played in every subsequent match. He even played five snaps in Kansas City's Super Bowl LVIII victory over San Francisco in February.
The Philadelphia-born player, who was picked 55th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft, has been a stabilising force for the Chiefs' receiving room, racking up nearly 1,000 yards and seven touchdowns. However, the SMU graduate returned to his college town in April and allegedly hit speeds of 117 mph before crashing into the central median divider, triggering a six-car pile-up.
In another recent controversy, Chiefs kicker Harrison Butker caused a national stir after making culturally conservative comments during a commencement speech at a local college.
