Both Sexton and Earls retired in the aftermath of Ireland's devastating defeat to New Zealand last night.
Ireland star Josh Van Der Flier has paid tribute to Johnny Sexton and Keith Earls following their retirements from rugby.
The duo retired following Ireland's heartbreaking 28-24 defeat to New Zealand in the Rugby World Cup quarter-finals last night. Speaking to Off The Ball, Van De Flier said: "They're two lads I'll tell my kids about someday. You look up to them as people and as family men as well as what you see on the pitch."They're two heroes of Irish rugby. I remember watching them when I was coming up through school and being in awe of them and then getting to play with them is a dream come true.
"I still feel a bit of a child around them. I'm still in a bit of awe getting to play with them but it's sad it's over. Yeah it's a huge honour to have shared the pitch with them".
