Gloves, shawls and opera glasses will also be among the pieces in the Bonhams sale.
The two collars on offer include one given to Ginsburg by her law clerks in 2018, embroidered with a quote from her husband, Marty Ginsburg , while the other is a beaded gilt collar. Both are expected to hammer down for somewhere between $3,000 and $5,000. Other accessories hitting the auction block include both a black and a cream pair of gloves and a Nepalese embroidered shawl she wore to the opera .
Of course, RBG was more than her appearance, and a number of items related to her interests—from the law-focused to the cultural—are up for the taking as well. That includes a wooden gavel from her chambers and black and gold opera glasses engraved with “Southern District of New York” ., which brought in almost $2.4 million and had more bidders than any other online auction in Bonhams’ history.
Ginsburg, even after her death, continues to shatter expectations—with this auction likely being no exception.
