A man and a woman have died in a two-car collision in Drumcondra in Dublin this morning
The incident happened on the Drumcondra Road at the junction of Hollybank Road at around 6.30am.
Gardaí say the drivers of both cars - a man in his 60s and a woman in her 30s - were fatally injured in the crash. The road has been closed for a technical examination and diversions are in place at Whitehall Church, Botanic Avenue and Richmond Avenue.Dublin Bus said there are diversions on routes 1, 11, 13, 16, 33, 41 and 44.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible and use an alternative route if travelling to Dublin Airport.AA Roadwatch has reported long delays on the Finglas Road and from the Collins Avenue junction on the Ballymun Road onto Mobhi Road to Hart's Corner and to Doyle's Corner on the Phibsborough Road.
Gardaí have appealed to any witnesses to anyone who may have dash cam footage of the incident to contact Mountjoy Garda Station on 01 6668600, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
