'These rides hold a special place in the hearts of our guests'
Two iconic rides at Blackpool ’s Pleasure Beach Resort have become the first in the UK to receive a prestigious award.
The honour has previously only been granted to 48 coasters around the world - including the Matterhorn Bobsleds at Disneyland, Dragon Coaster at Playland Park in New York, and Batman The Ride at Six Flags Great America in Illinois.The two rides mark the 49th and 50th coasters on the list, with the Pleasure Beach only being the second European park, after the Rutschebanen in Denmark’s Tivoli Gardens, to be given the award.
More than 60 members of the ACE Europe group travelled to the Blackpool resort to personally present the plaques to Pleasure Beach board directors, James Cox and Andy Hygate. ACE Communications Director Derek Perry said: “ACE members are extremely excited that the Big Dipper and Grand National are now ACE Roller Coaster Landmarks.
“With two ACE Roller Coaster Landmarks and all the other fantastic attractions at the park, Pleasure Beach Resort is a must-visit destination for enthusiasts from around the world!”
