Emergency crews responded to a Ballyogan home where two young women were hurt, while Gardaí arrested a man in his thirties in Deansgrange in connection with the case.
Emergency services were dispatched to a residential property in the suburb of Ballyogan shortly before 8.30am on Sunday following reports of a disturbance involving several occupants.
Upon arrival officers found two young women, both in their twenties, who had sustained injuries during the confrontation. Paramedics provided immediate medical care on scene before transporting both victims to a nearby hospital for further treatment. One of the women was assessed as having injuries that are not life threatening, while the second required additional medical evaluation to determine the full extent of her condition.
The health authorities confirmed that both patients are receiving appropriate care and that the prognosis for the non‑critical case is positive. Later in the morning a team of Gardaí from the Shankill district, supported by members of the Armed Support Unit, responded to a separate call at a house in the Deansgrange area of east Dublin. The officers apprehended a man in his thirties who was present at the property at the time of the operation.
He is being held under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984, which permits detention for up to twenty‑four hours for questioning. Garda representatives declined to disclose the specific charge that led to his arrest, but indicated that the detention is linked to the earlier incident in Ballyogan. The suspect is currently housed at a Garda station in Dublin city where forensic investigators are conducting a detailed examination of the scene, gathering DNA evidence and interviewing witnesses.
The investigations into both incidents remain ongoing. Medical staff continue to monitor the condition of the injured women, with one patient expected to be discharged within the next 24 hours and the other remaining under observation pending further assessment. Police have appealed to anyone with additional information about the events that unfolded in Ballyogan or the circumstances surrounding the arrest in Deansgrange to come forward.
Authorities stress that public safety is a priority and that any act of violence will be dealt with firmly under the law. The community has expressed concern over the sudden escalation of violence in what is generally regarded as a quiet residential area, and local councilors have called for increased patrols and preventative measures to reassure residents
