All-Ireland winning manager leaves his post after two years in charge
CORK camogie was reeling last night after All-Ireland winning manager Matthew Twomey stepped away after completing a two year term.
The move has come as a surprise after Twomey informed the players and the Cork camogie board of his decision. Twomey guided Cork to this year’s All-Ireland a year after they lost out in the final to Kilkenny by a point. He was appointed in November 2021, replacing Paudie Murray, and immediately brought Davy Fitzgerald on board as a coach before Fitzgerald moved to take over Waterford hurlers this season.
Cork had lost the 2021 All-Ireland final to Galway but this year’s 19 point decider victory over Waterford, with Amy O'Connor hitting a hat-trick of goals, meant the end of their final heartache.
