Tyson Fury watched his potential fight with Anthony Joshua go up in smoke after his rival was knocked out by Daniel Dubois at Wembley
Fury was ringside at Wembley to watch Joshua attempt to become a three-time heavyweight world champion on Saturday night - but his fellow Brit was dropped three times before being stopped in the fifth round. And the result means Fury's hopes of fighting Joshua for the undisputed crown next year have been extinguished.
Fury was referring to boxing's new ringmaster Turki Alalshikh who has made no secret of his desire to pit Fury against Joshua. But the fight may be resurrected, if Fury loses his sequel with Usyk. Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn said: "I don’t see it being a fight that ends his career,’ said Joshua's promoter Eddie Hearn. "But as I said, he’s in the final chapter or chapters of the career.
Joshua insisted he will not retire despite being dominated from the opening bell. He had rebuilt his career following his back-to-back defeats by Usyk; beating Jermaine Franklin, Robert Helenius, Otto Wallin and Francis Ngannou. But he struggled to deal with Dubois' power and was dropped in rounds one, three and four before a final trip to the canvas in the fifth session.
