Daniel Dubois' stunning knockout victory over Anthony Joshua at Wembley has sparked talk of a potential fight between Dubois and Tyson Fury. Fury, who watched the bout ringside, previously sparred with Dubois in 2017 when both boxers were at different stages in their careers. Despite Fury’s heavier weight at the time, he was impressed by Dubois' skillset and recognized his potential.
Dubois upset Anthony Joshua with a stunning fifth-round knockout victory at Wembley on Saturday night, putting in a dominant display to retain his IBF heavyweight title. It put the dampeners on the long-awaited British superfight between Fury and Joshua.
Fury was impressed regardless, later saying: "I was fat, 27 stone. We had a move around and it was a pleasure. He'd never even had a pro fight, but I found out he was a very good fighter straight away." Fury stepped in to defend his family's honour, with Dubois relishing the unique experience. Dynamite continued: “He was awkward back then, you know and at the time, I don’t think I was going all out, I was sort of in awe or whatever.
He earned praise from Fury once again after dispatching of Joshua in convincing fashion. The 96,000-strong crowd didn't faze him, knocking the two-time world champion down at the end of the first round in a sign of things to come.
