Directed by Oliver Stone, U Turn is a dark comedy thriller featuring an all-star cast including Sean Penn, Jennifer Lopez, and Nick Nolte. The movie follows Bobby Cooper, a drifter who finds himself in a small desert town in Arizona. He is approached by an attractive woman and her spouse, both offering him money to kill the other. With a sweaty atmosphere and a twisty plot, U Turn is a must-watch despite its initial box office failure.
Directed by Oscar-winner Oliver Stone (JFK, Platoon), it sees another Oscar winner Sean Penn play Bobby Cooper, a drifter in debt to a violent gangster whose car breaks down in a small desert town Arizona. While there, he meets an attractive woman ( Jennifer Lopez ) and her spouse ( Nick Nolte ), each of whom approach Bobby to kill the other for money.
Also featuring amongst its cast a young Claire Danes and Joaquin Phoenix, along with Billy Bob Thornton and Jon Voight, U Turn was not a box office hit upon release and received mixed reviews from critics. However, we’d argue that the movie’s great cast, sweaty atmospshere, dark comedy elements and twisty plot make it well worth seeking out
