U2’s Adam Clayton has given fans hope that the band will go on tour again – and that Larry Mullen will continue touring with them.
Clayton has revealed Mullen is suffering from a repetitive motion from playing drums for 50 years and is reportedly undergoing surgery to correct the issue.
But Clayton dismissed reports that Mullen won’t go on tour with U2 again – if the band go on the road again.Asked if the superstars will do another tour again, Clayton responded: “I think one always has a degree of anxiety as to whether you can do it again.“It is a little bit like riding a bicycle. And I’m grateful that it does come back.”
He also spoke about Mullen’s injury from playing drums over the years – and whether or not another tour would happen without Mullen behind his kit. Clayton said: “It’s very hard to face. If it were something we would have to face, I imagine you would do what needs to be done but it wouldn’t be a decision we would take easily or comfortably.“I think Larry has some significant injuries from a repetitive motion – something that drummers are susceptible to, and sportspeople – so I think he wants to find himself and take some advice and find out what’s the best thing to do,” he told the Sunday Independent’s People & Culture magazine.
