Ubisoft has cancelled Ghost Recon Frontline, Splinter Cell VR and 2 unannounced games.
During a financial call listened to by VGC the company said that both games had been cancelled due to the changing financial environment. The company did not provide further details., with support from Reflections. Ghost Recon Frontline was in development at Ubisoft Bucharest.Ghost Recon Frontline was a battle royale game that saw groups of 4 players teaming up to face more than 100 players across a large map.
An 8-minute trailer that was revealed last October showed off players collecting loot and completing missions.which caused Ubisoft to delay and eventually cancel a planned playtest.on YouTube accrued 4.8 thousand likes compared to 17 thousand dislikes within a few days, with the comments being a mix of disappointment and confusion over the direction of the series.
The top comment, left by a user name ‘Damon’ accuses Ubisoft of “ignoring” its fanbase with Frontline’s new direction. This comment alone has almost as many likes as the trailer itself. When searching ‘Ghost Recon Frontline” on YouTube, under the trailer are several videos criticising the title, with the title of YouTuber BigfryTV’s video asking “Is this a joke?”
Little was known about Splinter Cell VR beyond a brief tease from CEO Yves Guilmont: “On Splinter Cell there will be some new type of experiences but more on different devices, so we are working a little bit, a lot, on the brand today to come back at one point,”
