Charisma Osborne has 20 points and Ilmar’l Thomas has 18 as the Bruins prevail, 82-81, on Thursday night to advance to a road game against Oregon State on Sunday.
LARAMIE, Wyo. — The UCLA women’s basketball team is making the most of its second season.
Osborne scored the last four points of the game to secure the win after Thomas had sent the game into a second overtime with a layup with two seconds left. After surviving a game that featured 23 lead changes, 11 ties and no lead of more than six points for either side, the Bruins advance to face Oregon State on Sunday at noon in Corvallis. The Beavers defeated New Mexico, 78-73. UCLA lost its only game against Oregon State during Pac-12 play, 72-58, on Jan. 30 in Corvallis, but Osborne missed that game.
UCLA overcame a cold start, taking a 12-10 lead at the end of the first quarter after Jaelynn Penn hit two 3-pointers in the final minute. UCLA grabbed a five-point lead with 4:27 left in the second quarter on a Thomas layup, but Wyoming came back on the strength of its 3-point shooting. The Cowgirls were 4 for 5 from behind the arc in the second quarter and 5 for 6 in the opening half.
