UEFA, FAI and Government express confidence as Dublin crisis talks yield no immediate solution
UEFA chiefs held crisis talks with Bank of Ireland last night in a further escalation of efforts to save the FAI.
"I want to tell them that the Government is determined to avoid Examinership and liquidation,” he said. “This is not a political football. This is something which I have received nothing but support for, from opposition people as well." “He has a big task on his hands, but he has got off to a very good start. We feel he has a huge role to play in the future, so we felt it important that he would be there.”New FAI recruit Barrett said: “It was constructive. We’ll take things step by step. There’ll be more meetings. Everyone wants to find the right solutions. That’s the path we’re on.”
Ross continued: “We have maintained rigidly that we’re not going to bail out anybody. That is not on the cards.“And, finally, if we do get substantial progress we’ll hopefully have another meeting with all of the stakeholders together.”
