Aviva Stadium in Dublin is set to host four group games, a Last 16 tie and one quarter-final clash
Ireland and the UK will be confirmed as Euro 2028 hosts today in a €240 million boost for the Irish economy.
Delegates from the FAI and their counterparts from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland arrived in Geneva last night ahead of the announcement. The FAI team in Switzerland is fronted by chief executive Jonathan Hill, chief operating officer David Courell and president Gerry McAnaney.Once UEFA confirms Ireland & UK as the winning bid, focus will turn to two key questions that remain unresolved - automatic qualification and Casement Park.
Further discussions are required as one grey area is how UEFA ranks those countries for the two spots, in the event that three or more teams don’t qualify automatically. As it stands, the proposed 34,578-capacity south Belfast venue is earmarked to host four group games and one last 16 tie.Six of the ten match venues are in England.
