Guzman called the fumble recovery — which set up a 16-yard touchdown run by Clayton Tune in the Cougars’ 43-36 victory over Temple — “a big play for me” in a career that has taken him from coast to coast. It also was Guzman’s introduction to those outside the UH football program of a player who has remained mostly in the shadows.
“I was putting my name out there,” he added. “I was making phone calls, sending emails to everybody I can.”“Definitely had my ups and downs and doubted myself,” he said. “I just kept pushing and never quit. I was persistent. Resilient. And I ended up getting what I wanted and dreamed of.”
