After experiencing a large number of employees call off due to the Martin Luther King Jr. Day snowstorm, UH Parma Medical Center wasn’t messing around with Winter Storm Landon.

“We asked managers to identify rooms in their departments that could be available,” UH Parma Medical Center Director of Operations Kathi O’Connor said. “Environmental services updated it to use a few other vacant rooms, and most of the people were able to be in beds vs. cots.” Representing six different Northeast Ohio counties that received a foot or more of snow, the overnight employees were from many different departments. This included environmental services , food and nutrition services , cath lab, operating room, endoscopy, radiology, all inpatient nursing floors, protective services , pharmacy, emergency, central sterile processing, internal medicine resident physicians and nurse practitioners.
