A car expert has warned British motorists they can save hundreds of pounds every year on their fuel bills
Drivers have been warned to keep their car clean to save around £200 a year. It may sound simple - but experts are urging Brits who fill their cars up with petrol or diesel to make sure they visit the carwash at the forecourt too.
Graham Conway, Managing Director at Select Car Leasing, explained: “A cleaner car is in fact more fuel efficient. Experiments found the vehicle was more fuel-efficient when clean, averaging two miles per gallon more than when it was dirty. He added: “Dirt also adds weight, which also has an impact on a vehicle’s fuel efficiency. So as motorists continue to battle with the cost of living crisis, keeping their vehicle clean will most likely help to save on fuel costs since dirty surfaces limit airflow and increase friction for a lower mpg rating.
