UK podcasting now on a par with America thanks to a diversity of creators ✍️ iburrell
Radio giant Global was a beneficiary when BBC podcast chief Dino Sofos left to create Persephonic and reunited with departing BBC presenters Emily Maitlis, Jon Sopel and Lewis Goodall for a Global news podcast that launches in autumn. The BBC lost the film podcast Kermode & Mayo’s Take to Sony Music Entertainment and football-based The Peter Crouch Podcast to commercial platform Acast.
Investment into the sector by Amazon is a further boost. British Scandal, Wondery’s UK debut last year, is a weekly immersion into the quirky but monumental stories that sporadically grip this country, from the poisoning of Alexander Litvinenko to the forged Hitler Diaries. Partygate and the fall of Boris Johnson might be for later.

It is the story of “one woman, alone with her laptop, trying in her way to tell the truth” and the“ mortal danger” faced by those in her position, says presenter Stephen Grey, a Reuters correspondent.
