He said the Prime Minister may have made the right decision not to bring in tougher restrictions before Christmas may have been the right call after all. Seeing as Omicron overtook other variants in the country around December 14, Professor Hunter says it would have been the main driver of new cases from then on.
‘But it will probably take until at least Wednesday to get an idea of a day that is not affected by the weekend. But I am more optimistic than I was a few days ago.’ Professor Hunter added.
