The Met Office has issued four yellow warnings, covering parts of Wales, Scotland and northwest England, and has told residents to prepare for possible power cuts and flooding.
Some homes and businesses could be flooded in parts of the UK today, forecasters have said.
Two are in place until 8pm - one stretching from Cardiff to Bangor and another covering Lancashire and southern Cumbria. One warning in the southwest of Scotland is in place until 7pm, as is a warning for wind in the north of the country. Tuesday will be"a rather dull and damp affair", meteorologist Alex Deakin said, with"gusty winds", adding it will be"milder than Monday", with temperatures reaching at least 10C for most of the country.
"There will be heavy and persistent rain for northwest England and parts of Wales, and, because it has been so wet recently, this extra rain could cause some issues, so we do have Met Office yellow warnings in place."He added:"For many it will feel milder than Monday, but there is more wet and windy weather to come through the evening across Wales and western parts of England.
