Ukraine's ambassador to Turkey this afternoon claimed that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has a strong influence on Vladimir Putin.

While many of the foreign components are found in everyday household goods such as microwaves that are not subject to export controls, RUSI said a strengthening of export restrictions and enforcement could make it harder for Russia to replenish its arsenal of weapons. Both Russia and Ukraine have blamed each other for the strikes, which have been condemned by the United Nations this morning.

Ukraine's nuclear agency Enerhoatom has claimed Russia is"openly blackmailing the whole world" by threatening to blow up the Zaporizhzhia power plant.It quoted Major General Valery Vasiliev - the head of Russia's radiation, chemical and biological defence forces - as saying"there will either be Russian land or a scorched desert".

A ship carrying grain from Ukraine under a deal to unblock supplies amid the threat of a global food crisis has become the first to reach its destination. He added:"We have always been, we are, and we will be a reliable supplier of agricultural products. Unlike Russia, we do not play the 'Hunger Games'."

Negotiations between Moscow and Kyiv have been stalled for months, with each side blaming the other for a lack of progress.
