Earlier Col Gen Oleksandr Syrskyi, the commander of Ukraine’s ground forces, said they were “making progress” around the city. “Today, the initiative is on our side,” Mr Zelenskiy told the US broadcaster ABC. “We are advancing, albeit not as fast [as we would like]. But we are advancing.”
