A Ukrainian chef uses his experience in high-quality and mass food production to provide meals for a special forces battalion fighting along the 1,200km front line.
Kyiv chef Zhenya Mykhailenko and his team have been feeding a special forces battalion since March 2022. Mykhailenko honed his culinary skills working three jobs in Los Angeles, mastering both fine dining and large-scale food preparation. When Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022, he put his skills to use providing quality meals to Ukrainian soldiers.
Mykhailenko, his wife Mary, and some kitchen staff began cooking in the basement of one of his restaurants after responding to an online call for help from a battalion. They delivered food to a secluded forest location, surrounded by explosions, where they met a group of special forces soldiers
