'I worry all the time, I worry for the future...you realise you could give up, you could fold but you keep going'

Fair City’s Bryan Murray and Una Crawford O'Brien have opened up about the toll Bryan's diagnosis has taken on their life.

Speaking about getting the news, Bryan, 73 admitted: "I knew there was something wrong for a while, Before it all happened I was able to pick up a script and learn one page after the other and know it all off by heart. It was just done, it was just part of me. Then suddenly it started to kind of go out like the tide, it just went away."

"I have lists. We have a blackboard in the kitchen, we have a whiteboard upstairs with events written on it, a calendar there. So I have to remember everything for both of us. Because first thing in the morning he will say, "What's happening today, where are we going?" I'm like his PA." But Una admits for her, it is like a bad dream repeating. "I worry all the time, I worry for the future. My mother had dementia, my grandmother had dementia. I'm worried I'll get it and what happens then? So I can't think too far ahead. I try to live in the moment, because there is no point in thinking about what the future will bring."
